Four Aspects of Christ’s Commission to Make Disciples

The mission of the Church is to make disciples. Therefore, that is our purpose as individuals who comprise the church. Making disciples is based on the worship of the living God and His authority. Making disciples assumes we are disciples ourselves believing in the risen Christ and trusting in the gospel. It demands that we share the gospel with others, baptize converts, and teach them to obey the commands of Christ. We are not left to do this in our own strength but promised that Jesus will accompany us til the end of the age.

Wait For It…

Everyone hates waiting. What are you waiting for that God seems “slow” on? James — Jesus’ half-brother — aims to encourage believers at the end of his letter. And in chapter 5, he offers us wisdom on how to be patient while suffering. Joe helps us see how we should wait for the Lord as followers of Jesus Christ.

The Lord’s Comprehensive Care of His Sheep

The Lord’s care of His sheep is comprehensive. He cares for His sheep in every way possible. He cares for them physically and spiritually. He comforts and protects His sheep. He receives them and blesses them both now and for eternity

Come, Let us Run

Every believer is called to run a race that is set by our Heavenly Father. Looking to Jesus, we run diligently and patiently through this maze of life so that we can triumphantly declare like Paul, I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

Upside down anger

Jesus packs so much in His Sermon on the Mount. In just 15 minutes of reading, Jesus covers a large swath of topics: God’s Law, our sinfulness, God’s sinlessness, lust, divorce, adultery, revenge, loving our enemies, giving, prayer, fasting, anxiety, judgement, and yes, anger. In chapter 5, we learn from Jesus on how to respond righteously in our anger. Joe shows us that we need to turn our approach to anger “upside down.”

The Armor of god

Be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.

This Anxious Heart

Anxiety exists because sin exists. Our hearts were never meant to be anxious, and yet because of Genesis 3, they are. This anxious heart of ours needs hope, and it needs to be changed from the inside out. Joe shows us three ways to pursue hope in an anxious world, from the book of 1 Peter.
