1 John (Page 2)
Do Not Love the World
Why are we commanded not to love the world when God is said to do so?
Christ is Our Comfort & Confidence
Following Christ is a high calling, and impossible without the Lord’s help. To comfort the overwhelmed, God reminds us of Christ.
The Old & New Command to Love
If you have been brought into the love of Jesus Christ, you will love your brother the way that Jesus loved you. That’s the plain meaning of this passage, but what does John mean when he says that he’s giving this church an old and a new command, when they are told to love one another?
The Battle Against Joy-Stealing, Soul-Crushing, Sin
God is not a joy-kill. He pursues and protects us against the joy-stealing, soul-crushing, effects of sin through the sacrificial death of His Son, and through the continued advocacy of our Savior.
God is Light
How do we maintain good fellowship with God? The first hindrance John deals with is sin. How can a God who is light have fellowship with those who have sinned?
Fellowship with God
Does being a Christian simply mean to hold to certain principles or ethics? Or does it mean something far more? This passage confirms that God has granted something amazing to those who know Him.
